(RNN) – Casey Anthony vehemently denied killing her daughter, Caylee, during a 10-minute off-camera phone interview with CNN's Piers Morgan on Tuesday night.
"Obviously, I did not kill my daughter," Anthony said. "If anything, there's nothing in this world I've ever been more proud of and there's no one I loved more than my daughter. She's my greatest accomplishment," Anthony told Morgan.
Anthony, 26, was tried and acquitted in a Florida court for the death of her daughter, Caylee, who was 2 years old when she died. Anthony was convicted of four counts of lying to authorities investigating Caylee's disappearance.
Anthony never took the stand to testify, and the interview with Morgan is one of the few times she has spoken about the case to the media.
Anthony was sentenced to time served and was released from jail on July 17, 2011. In January, a video diary clip of Anthony wearing glasses and with blond hair wound up on YouTube. She has remained in hiding while serving a year of probation from her 2010 check fraud conviction.
"I've looked back at some of the interviews (I've) done and the way that I come across, and it's horrible. It's absolutely horrible. And I am ashamed in many ways of the person I was," Anthony told Morgan. "Even then, that wasn't who I am."
Anthony also said she didn't trust law enforcement, and that the public image of her is still wildly inaccurate, saying that she never was a party girl and really doesn't drink now.
"I'm not making gazillions of dollars at the hands of other people, or trying to sell myself to anyone willing to throw a couple of dollars at me," Anthony said. "The caricature of me that is out there, it couldn't be further from the truth."
J. Cheney Mason, Anthony's attorney, appeared on camera with Morgan and discussed Anthony's state of mind and how she's living.
"Well, she's in a different prison in reality. She's not in 24 hour a day lockdown like she was for three years in Norris County jail. But she's in a home where she can't go outside. She fears and we fear for her to go outside at all. She can't be seen. So she spends the day in the house," said J. Cheney Mason, Anthony's attorney.
During Anthony's murder trial, prosecutors argued that Anthony suffocated young Caylee with duct tape after using chloroform to ease her into unconsciousness. Anthony, they said, then drove the child's body around for days before ultimately disposing of it in a wooded area near her family's home.
Her defense attorneys claimed Caylee accidentally drowned in the family's above ground swimming pool June 18, 2008. They say Anthony, with the help of her father, covered up the drowning in a fit of panic after discovering the dead body.
George Anthony refuted that claim on the stand.
Anthony originally told investigators that Caylee had been abducted by her nanny. A nationwide search lasted for months before Caylee's remains were found with tape on her skull.
