Join us today at Noon!

Good morning everyone! Agnes DeRouen in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we're working on for 7News@Noon

Big news out of Sulphur today – a groundbreaking for the new indoor events center at the West Calcasieu Arena.  It will boast a 45 thousand square foot multi-purpose center and a 15 thousand square foot main banquet hall. We'll have more on what the center has to offer to the entire lake area.

Isle of Capri Casinos lost money in the fiscal fourth quarter, but adjusted results topped analysts' expectations and the stock climbed in pre-market trading.  You can get details of the company's financial picture HERE.

In sports,  there are reports about Drew Brees possibly signing a new deal with the New Orleans Saints.  We're keeping an eye on the wires to see if any more updates are being released.

Also today, it's something we all do, but it's something one little girl does in a completely different way.  It's reading and writing and she's competing in the National Braille Challenge – using her ability to quickly read and write the special raised letters made for people with vision loss.

Plus, what do you know about salt?  Is it really bad for us, or should we forget everything we've heard about it?  We'll give you the nitty-gritty about salt and its effects.

Ben says the typical summer-like weather pattern has set in.  We can expect afternoon pop-up storms across our area over the next couple of days, with hot temperatures in the afternoon.  How hot will it get, and how much rain can we expect?  Well, Ben's working on his local forecast right now and will have it all ready for you in just a bit.  If you need some weather information now, check out the KPLC weather site HERE.

And while you're visiting kplctv.com you may want to see the heartwarming story of a dog who understands sign language – the paws have it right HERE

We hope you join us online or on air at noon, and have a great day everyone!
