Tuesday Afternoon Headlines

This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC Newsroom. 

 

There was a robbery early this morning in Sulphur. Two men went into the "Fifth Wheel" Conoco on N Beglis Parkway in Sulphur; one of them was brandishing a two by four. Police don't have any suspects. But they are looking for three men who were in the store who could help in the investigation. 

And a 49-year-old Moss Bluff man was arrested and put in jail for allegedly having sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl back in 2006. Tonight, Robert Prestenbach, Jr. Is jailed on a $600,000 dollar bond.

And a decade's long question that's been plaguing shrimpers for a long time... Turtle excluder devices or their livelihood? The feds are talking about making shrimpers put these special devices on their nets when they're shrimping in state waters. But the shrimpers say ted's hurt their catch.

Summer has definitely arrived in Southwest Louisiana; temperatures today topped out in the mid 90s with heat indices in the low 100s! Temperatures for the next 7 days will be near 90 in the afternoon and in the mid 70s in the mornings. Heat indices will be hot with values between the upper 90s to low 100s! If you are going to be outside for any length of time be sure to drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen.

    The Army Corps of Engineers plans to issue the necessary permits for the Bayou Bridge pipeline, according to a news release from the office of Congressman Clay Higgins. The news release said Colonel Michael Clancy, of the Army Corps of Engineers, announced Thursday that the New Orleans District has concluded its environmental assessment and will issue necessary permits to Bayou Bridge Pipeline, LLC. Higgins office says the pipeline is a $750 million investment that is estimated...

    Daigle attorneys seek trial delay and different parish for change of venue

    Defense attorneys for Kevin Daigle were in state court on Friday asking for his trial to be delayed again and that the judge choose a different place to pick a jury. Daigle also was in court. He's accused of first-degree murder of State Trooper Steven Vincent in 2015.
