Tuesday Afternoon Headlines

This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC Newsroom.

There was a robbery early this morning in Sulphur. Two men went into the "Fifth Wheel" Conoco on N Beglis Parkway in Sulphur; one of them was brandishing a two by four. Police don't have any suspects. But they are looking for three men who were in the store who could help in the investigation.

And a 49-year-old Moss Bluff man was arrested and put in jail for allegedly having sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl back in 2006. Tonight, Robert Prestenbach, Jr. Is jailed on a $600,000 dollar bond.

And a decade's long question that's been plaguing shrimpers for a long time... Turtle excluder devices or their livelihood? The feds are talking about making shrimpers put these special devices on their nets when they're shrimping in state waters. But the shrimpers say ted's hurt their catch.

Summer has definitely arrived in Southwest Louisiana; temperatures today topped out in the mid 90s with heat indices in the low 100s! Temperatures for the next 7 days will be near 90 in the afternoon and in the mid 70s in the mornings. Heat indices will be hot with values between the upper 90s to low 100s! If you are going to be outside for any length of time be sure to drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen.

Coming up on 7 News at Six Sports, we'll have a live preview from Opening Night of the State High School Rodeo Championships from Burton Coliseum. We'll also catch up with Gave Cecchini less than 24 hours after being picked in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets. Overnight we will have partly cloudy skies. There is a chance for fog to develop again overnight, but only if the wind calms down enough. Temperatures will be mild with lows in the middle 60s. Monday, we will have mostly cloudy skies. Throughout the day, we could also see a couple areas with drizzle. No significant rain is expected.
