Lake Charles man arrested after allegedly stealing engine blocks

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On May 19, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a machine shop in Lake Charles regarding a theft. 

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the business owner who advised when he arrived at work, several engine blocks and scrap iron were missing.

On May 29, detectives were contacted by a witness who reported seeing a man on the machine shop property several times in the past several weeks stealing engine blocks and other items. 

With a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle obtained by the witnesses, detectives contacted a local recycling shop and discovered a man, identified as Joseph O. Williams, 47, of Lake Charles, had recently sold them two engine blocks matching the description of the engines reported stolen.

When questioned by detectives, Williams confirmed to going on the business property on numerous occasions and stealing three engine motors.  He was arrested on May 30 and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $1,500.

Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $8,000.
