A man accused of killing his aunt has changed his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.
Jeffery Doise, 17, is accused of murdering his aunt in September 2011 on Jefferson Drive in Lake Charles. Doise allegedly left the victim's young son in the home alone after the shooting.
Doise changed his not guilty plea in court Tuesday, which means he's saying he was insane at the time his aunt was killed.
Doise is charged with second degree murder and criminal abandonment.
The court ordered Doise to be examined by a psychiatrist. The pretrial conference is set for Oct. 4, 2012.
