ALLEN PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A 94-year-old Oakdale woman took her duty of service to another level.
Eunice Grimes served on the trial of Jeremy Lee Brown and said she did it with ease.
"It is wonderful when people are up there in age and still like to be active. I'd just like to be thankful to be able to do that," Grimes said.
Grimes' daughter Hilda Grimes helped her each day of the trial, getting her to and from the courthouse where she served as an active member on the jury.
"I am just so admired by her character and her desire to want to serve and be civic minded," Hilda said. "Actually I didn't think she should have, but she wanted to."
Grimes believes that it's important for people of all ages to stay mentally and physically active. She said, that for her, serving on the jury was nothing out of the ordinary.
