DALLAS (AP) - A person is holed up in a construction crane on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
SMU spokesman Kent Best says a person believed to have been a fugitive from Dallas police took refuge Monday in the cab of a crane being used on a construction site for student housing. Television footage showed the crane on an empty lot, with the cab higher than the light poles at SMU's nearby football stadium.
Dallas police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez said SMU police requested assistance, but she had no other details.
Best says there are a limited number of people on campus because of the Memorial Day holiday, but officials were planning to warn people to avoid the area.
