2 arrested in Elms Street shooting

Following is a press release from Lake Charles Police:

On Sunday, May 27, 2012, at approximately 826am, Lake Charles Police Department received a call in reference to shots fired in the 2600blk of Elms Street.  Upon Officers arrival they learned that one victim was shot in the knee and was being treated at a local hospital. 

Officers were provided the description of the vehicle and subject that committed the shooting and robbery. 

Sgt. K Jones located the suspect vehicle in the area of 3rd Ave and 5th Street.  Once contact was made with suspects Ronald Joseph Callier and Christopher Lewis, officers located the firearm used in the crime.  Both Lewis and Callier were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

During the investigation Detectives learned that Lewis and Callier had followed 4 females and a male from a club to Elms Street.  Callier and Lewis approached the females at which time the females asked to purchase some narcotics.  Callier then produced a firearm and demanded money from the females and another male.  The male began struggling with Callier over the weapon when he was shot in the leg.

Ronald Joseph Callier, Jr, BM, 37yoa, dob: 8-20-74, address: 558 Morrow RD, Lake Charles, La 70611    Charges: Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon and Public Intimidation.

Christopher Lewis, BM, 35yoa, dob: 6-19-76, address: 4377 Lake Caroline Dr, Lake Charles, La 70601     Charges: Armed Robbery and Driving Under Suspension.
