LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - After more than fifty years the Lake Charles Regional Lab is closing.
For many years the state lab was considered a shining star in terms of providing public health lab services including testing of drinking water, seafood, surface waters, animal testing and rabies, sexually transmitted disease and other analytical work for the health unit.
In recent years the lab has assumed testing for other regional labs that had closed. The lab was EPA, FDA and CLIA certified.
KPLC's Theresa Schmidt is at the lab and will have more on the story on later editions of 7News.
