Thursday Afternoon Headlines

This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC Newsroom.

Can you imagine you're sitting at home watching TV minding your own business... When suddenly a stray bullet enters your home and almost hits you in the head?  That's exactly what happened to an elderly woman yesterday in Lake Charles near the corner of 11th Street and 8th Avenue. Police say it was a drug deal gone bad that led to the shot being fired. Fortunately, they've arrested the suspect. We'll have the story today at five.

Also, more backlash from the President's decision to support gay marriage.

And city officials are meeting at this hour to make plans for what could be a big homecoming event for Joshua Ledet this Saturday.

This is Chief Meteorologist Wade Hampton at the weather desk, an upper level low is spinning over Texas and causing numerous showers and thunderstorms and they are headed this way. We already have clouds moving in and I expect to see some rain moving in after midnight. The rain will become quite likely during the day Friday and even more so on Saturday. I am placing the rain chances at 70 percent Friday and 80 percent on Saturday; some of the rain could be heavy at times.

Coming up on 7 News at Six Sports, we'll hear from the head of the LHSAA on the eve of the high school baseball state championships about why Sulphur is becoming the "City of Champions". We'll also have another edition of "Eye on the Bucs".
