Monday Afternoon Headlines - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Monday Afternoon Headlines

This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC Newsroom.

Months after it opens, a new city park in Lake Charles is combating problems brought on by Mother Nature. The Riverside Park is hailed for its beauty as it sits on the banks of the Calcasieu River. But now that very river at the center of its beauty is causing erosion problems. We'll tell you how the city is dealing with it.

And we'll take you to the state capitol today where a new law will allow tax rebates for donations to private school scholarship funds.

Also at the capitol, lawmakers may delay making tough decisions on the budget. The controversy is over whether or not to tap into the rainy day fund to bridge the gap on some budget matters.

Thankfully it looks like we are going to get some decent rain over the next few days. This will help to keep our afternoon temperatures a little cooler and help with the lack of rainfall. Tonight any rain from earlier in the day will come to an end shortly after sunset with some fog in areas that got rain.

Those stories and more coming your way at 7 News Live at Five and 7 News at Six.
