The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On May 5, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives conducted a stakeout due to numerous burglaries in the last few weeks of the Moss Bluff Animal Clinic on Park Road.

During the stake out, detectives observed a man, later identified as Larry J. Duhon, Jr., 37, of Moss Bluff, prying a window open with a crowbar on the west side of the business to gain entry.  When detectives approached Duhon and attempted to arrest him, he fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

With assistance from other CPSO deputies and CPSO K-9 units, Duhon was quickly located in the wooded area and arrested.

When questioned by detectives, Duhon confirmed he committed the burglary.  Duhon, who is currently on parole for a 2008 burglary and theft conviction, was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary.

Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $150,000.

CPSO Lt. Detective Rick Burrell is the lead investigator on this case.
