More entertainment comes to Contraband Days festival

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The 2012 Contraband Days Festival offers more entertainment and fun for festival participants, including more than 50 musical performances.

Contraband Days President Dean Day said it's the most entertainment the festival has seen in a long time.

There are four main stages both indoor and outdoor for festival goers to enjoy music from local and nationally recognized artists, Day said.

"We've been planning this for a whole year and we've listened to what Southwest Louisiana wanted," he said.

Sending out surveys and holding focus groups to find out ways to improve the Contraband Days festival.

"It's a process. We're in the process of changing this for the better for the community," Day said.

And with the promenade along the lake, this year's Contraband Days brings more fun to the Lake area.

"Small boaters in the past haven't been able to access the seawall. The seawall is perfectly open," Day said. "Bring your boat out,  bring your family, bring your friends and let's participate and have a great Southwest Louisiana festival."

The Contraband Days Festival will continue through Mother's Day.
