Thursday Afternoon Headlines - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Thursday Afternoon Headlines

Good afternoon. This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC Newsroom.

The murder trial of Robyn Davis and Carol Saltzman continues. Today, hear how cell phones are playing a big role in the trial....

Plus a multi-million dollar gas facility is headed to Hackberry. The governor was in Lake Charles today to make the announcement that construction will soon get underway on the facility that will mean some 700 new jobs.

And a Westlake woman accused of inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old boy was formally charged today. 28-year-old Heather Daughdrill was indicted on a total of 19 counts.

This is Wade at the weather desk, tonight will be warm and muggy with temperatures only dropping into the lower 70s and upper 60s north of I-10. I have removed the rain chances from the forecast for the next few days thanks to high pressure moving over our area. With that said I cannot rule out one or two showers developing; but the chance for rain will be a slim 10%.

Coming up on 7 News at Six Sports, we'll take a look at the case against Saints Linebacker Jonathan Vilma in connection with his year-long suspension for his role in Bounty-Gate. We'll also take a look at the truncated contract negotiations between the Saints and Drew Brees. Plus, we'll have this week's edition of "Eye on the Bucs".

Those stories and more coming your way on 7 News Live at Five and 7 News at Six.

The Saharan dust has diminished a lot more since yesterday and the particle numbers are down. We are still in a moderate zone, so you should still use caution if you have any allergies or breathing issues. Throughout the day, the clouds will be clearing, and the rain should stay away from us. There will still be a lot of humidity in place and hot temperatures.  By the afternoon, there should be lots of sunshine. That will increase the temperatures more.
