Moss Bluff man arrested after allegedly strangling victim with a cord

MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) -

A Moss Bluff man was arrested after the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of domestic battery on April 28.

The victim told deputies that during a verbal altercation with family member Charles R. Moore, 40, he struck her in the face, then wrapped a cord around her neck and began strangling her.

During the investigation, detectives discovered during an examination by doctors, the victim was found to have suffered a bruised eye and a broken hand. 

After an arrest warrant was issued, Moore was arrested on May 2 at his home without incident.  He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with domestic abuse battery by strangulation; and 2nd degree battery with a bond set at $50,000. 

CPSO Detective Jerry Childress is the lead investigator on this case.
