Major accident on I-10 westbound in Jennings

KPLC is receiving reports of a major accident on I-10 westbound between the two Jennings exits. Two vehicles are involved, according to Jennings Police. They are a 4-door pickup and an 18-wheeler.

State Police report the outside westbound lane is blocked between the 62 and 65 exits. Motorists are asked to find alternate routes since traffic is starting to build up in that area. The inside lane is moving, but the traffic is slowing.

State police tell us the driver of the pickup truck was heading south when he apparently left the service road for an unknown reason and hit the 18 wheeler. The 18-wheeler was heading west on the interstate. The driver of the pickup apparently crossed a grassy median to get on I-10. That driver is reportedly in critical condition.

KPLC is on scene and updates will be posted here and on Facebook.
