Gauthreaux Gets Sixth Year

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - McNeese State all-Southland Conference offensive lineman Miguel Gauthreaux has been granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Bridget Martin, the university's associate athletic director and coordinator of compliance, said Monday that the NCAA notified the school that Gauthreaux will be allowed a sixth year in which to complete his eligibility.

Gauthreaux, of Plaquemine, had been held out during his first year with the Cowboys because he was recovering from knee surgery due to an infection. He lettered in 2008, 2009 and 2010 but missed all of last season after being injured during August camp and having surgery to repair a torn ligament in his knee.
