Tradition continues at Westlake Family, Food & Fun Festival

WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) -

The tradition continued this weekend at Westlake's Family, Food and Fun Festival. The title explains it all - families enjoyed lots of food and fun.

The event, hosted by St. John Bosco Catholic Church, dates back to 1969 but officially became a festival 19 years ago. All proceeds benefit the church's community projects and organizers said there's a little something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

"I think right now for the kids - they really enjoy the fun jumps. And for the adults it's the entertainment and the food. We have bands taking the stage all afternoon and night. There is so much food. I could name it all for you, but I would hate to just say one thing. Let me tell you this - anything you eat here is good," said Deacon Fred Reed.

"We've been playing games and having fun. We played a game where we had to throw a ping pong ball in a fish tank and I won three fish," said Jada Sacksteder, 9 years old.

"We also got our faces painted. It only cost a quarter to get your entire face painted. I'm a cat and she is a mouse," said Katie Thibodeaux, 9 years old.

All the fun continues until 10 p.m. Saturday and resumes on Sunday at 9 a.m.
