The Environmental Protection Agency announced a plan to clean up the contaminated Calcasieu Estuary in August 2012.
The plan calls for dredging in Bayou Verdine near I-10 between Westlake and Sulphur.
The dredge material will be piped to two settlement ponds located on the Conoco Phillips property. The ponds will then be capped.
Conoco Phillips Company and Sasol Ltd. will fund the plan.
The project should be finished by July 2015.
