Oakdale man suspected of aggravated rape

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

In October 2011, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint regarding Melvin P. Fox, 43, of Oakdale, formerly of Lake Charles, having inappropriate sexual contact with a boy who was 11-years-old at the time between 2008 and 2009.  Fox was a family acquaintance.

Further investigation was conducted and on April 5, Fox was indicted for 1 count of aggravated rape by a Calcasieu Grand Jury and a warrant was issued for his arrest.  Oakdale Police Department, with information provided to them by CPSO detectives, located and arrested Fox.  He was transported and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center on April 13.

Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $400,000.
