ST. LOUIS (AP) - Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal says his state is poised to revise its constitution to make it the nation's strongest protection of rights for legal gun owners.
Jindal was among several Republican politicians who spoke Friday at the National Rifle Association's national convention in St. Louis. Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich were among the other speakers.
The speech came as the NRA pushes for the proposal in the Louisiana Legislature to rewrite the state's constitutional protections for gun and weapon owners so that it would be harder to restrict the use of firearms.
The bill has received Senate approval and awaits debate in a House committee.
