Sulphur man accused of credit card theft

On March 28, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a theft that occurred a few days before. 

The victim advised while visiting at a family member's house, Joshua S. Cormier, 30, of Sulphur, a family acquaintance, entered her car without permission and stole her credit card.  Cormier made several purchases with the stolen credit card, including buying gas for his truck, clothes, and paying his cell phone bill, totaling over $400, before returning the credit card before the victim realized the card was missing. 

When questioned by detectives, Cormier confirmed to stealing the victim's credit card from her car, and using it to make several purchases at local stores. 

On April 11, Cormier was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; forgery; and 4 counts unauthorized use of an access card.

Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $41,000.
