Hearing set in Oakdale theft case

Oakdale, La (AP) - A status conference has been set for Thursday for a former Oakdale city clerk accused of diverting money from court revenue for personal use.
Christy Stapleton, 32, pleaded not guilty to one count of theft over $1,500 in February.
Amanda Larkins, spokeswoman for the state attorney general's office, said all parties in the case will meet with the judge.
A state audit released in June 2011 focused on Oakdale City Court and alleged more than $80,000 was unaccounted for and that money was diverted by Stapleton for personal use over a two-year period.
The legislative auditor's office said Stapleton was dismissed after admitting to diverting some funds for personal use.
