The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On March 16, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives received a complaint from a local casino regarding a housekeeping employee stealing from guests' hotel rooms.

The investigation revealed between February 23 and March 2, housekeeper Latoya N. Cyprian, 33, of Lake Charles, stole four blank checks from guests while cleaning their hotel rooms.  Further investigation revealed Cyprian forged the victim's signature on the blank checks to make purchases at a local store.

After reviewing surveillance video from the local store, detectives arrested Cyprian in connection with the stolen checks.  When questioned by detectives, she confirmed the allegations and was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.  Cyprian, who is currently on probation for a 2003 conviction of bank fraud, forgery, and theft in St. Tammany Parish, is charged with 4 counts of forgery; and 4 counts of theft under $500.

Judge Michael Canaday has set her bond at $28,000.

CPSO Detective James Leubner is the lead investigator on this case.

In this week's edition of "Christian's Cajun Adventures," KPLC's Christian Piekos spent time on a commercial crabbing vessel. Christian was assisted by Roger Kelly, a veteran crabber.

Kelly, who also goes by the nickname "Snoopy," has been catching crab since a very young age. It seems like rudimentary work, but Kelly couldn't be happier with his job.
