Cameron Parish - After seven years Cameron Parish School District is receiving national accreditation for its schools.
A five member master education review team researched the schools in Cameron Parish looking at test scores, lesson plans, technology use and policies. The team also interviewed teachers, parents and students.
Grand Lake High School, Hackberry High School, South Cameron High School and Johnson Bayou High School were recognized for their outstanding performance in Cameron Parish.
The school district received a good report that the review teams said other school districts should take note of.
Cameron Parish Superintendent Stephanie Rodrigue said she's very appreciative of the honor.
"We can certainly attribute all of this to the strong sense of community and pride that all of our families and all of the students we serve in their schools. It's just incredible. We've said many many times after the storms that our schools are the heart of our community and they truly are. And there's no where else like Cameron Parish. This truly is God's country," Rodrigue said.
The Cameron Parish School Board will receive a hard copy of the district's education reviews from the review team within the next 30 days.
