Cowgirls Set For 'Selection Monday'

LAKE CHARLES (KPLC)-All year long McNeese State head women's basketball coach Brooks Donald Williams would say "It's all about the journey" in either a pre-game interview, post-game interview or weekly a press conference.  The Cowgirls' journey will continue this weekend in the first round of the NCAA Tournament after the Cowgirls defeated Stephen F. Austin 60-56 to win its second consecutive Southland Conference Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth.

McNeese will once again host a NCAA Selection Show party for the Cowgirls in the Club Level of the Jack Doland Fieldhouse tonight beginning at 6 p.m. on ESPN.  Fans are encouraged to attend.

The Cowgirls tied a program record with 26 victories this season which was set by last year's team.  The Cowgirls enter the NCAA's with a 26-7 overall record.

Last year the Cowgirls were sent to Shreveport as the 15th seed and fell 87-47 to Texas A&M, the eventual National Champions.

First round games are scheduled to begin Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18.
