Calcasieu Parish officials arrested a man in connection with The Drug Store burglary in Moss Bluff.

Officials said Patrick C. Murphy, 41, of Moss Bluff entered the pharmacy after breaking the dead bolt on the front door.

Murphy reportedly stole over $4,500 worth of narcotics medications, including approximately 7,000 Hydrocodone tablets, 700 Morphine tablets, 575 Oxycodone tablets, 575 Oxycontin and 130 soma tablets.

Officials also reported that Murphy was a former pharmaceutical salesman who serviced that store.

Murphy was booked in the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with burglary of a pharmacy, criminal damage to property over $500 and theft over $1,500.

Murphy is also charged with identity theft and exploitation of the infirmed stemming from a November 2011 case when an elderly family member of Murphy said he used her identity to obtain two credit cards and charged over $13,000 without her knowledge or permission.

On March 2 the District Attorney's Office accepted the charge and a $50,000 (second warrant) arrest warrant was issued.

Murphy's total bond is set at $500,000.
