A motion to withdraw a guilty plea in the Delafosse case will be decided in May by Judge Wilford Carter.
Mark Anthony Delafosse said he entered the guilty plea because he didn't want to face the death penalty.
Delafosse pleaded guilty in 1998 to manslaughter and armed robbery charges. He is currently serving an 80-year sentence for shooting 20-year-old Christopher Freeman during a robbery on Dixy Drive in 1996.
Delafosse's defense attorney Sharon Wilson has said Delafosse did not fully understand the circumstances of his plea.
This week, Judge Carter also granted a hearing on circumstances in the trial. Previously granted hearings have all been overturned by higher courts.
