Lake Charles man arrested again for possessing child pornography

The following is a Press Release from the Louisiana State Police:

On March 5, 2012, detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations with assistance from U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office investigators conducted a search warrant at the residence of 25-year-old John Winfield of Lake Charles.  The warrant was the result of an Operation Child Watch investigation initiated by State Police detectives in January involving child pornography being downloaded onto Winfield's computer.

A search of Winfield's desktop computer revealed the presence of sexual abuse images.

Winfield was arrested for distribution of pornography involving juveniles and was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center where he is being held on a $400,000 bond.  If convicted, Winfield faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Winfield was previously arrested on February 3, 2010, by State Police detectives for pornography involving juveniles.  That case has not yet been adjudicated.

The mission of Operation Child Watch is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting those individuals with sexually explicit images and/or videos on their computers.  This is an ongoing effort, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.
