JACKSONVILLE, FL (KPLC)- McNeese State's softball team completed play at the North Florida Osprey Invitational here Sunday with a 3-0 win over St. Bonaventure. The victory over the Bonnies was the second over the weekend after the Cowgirls picked up a 2-0 win in a pre-tournament game on Friday.
Meagan Bond picked up her ninth win of the season to improve to 9-5 on the year. Bond gave up six hits and struck out nine. McNeese scored single runs in the second, third and fifth to pick up their 15th win of the season to improve to 15-7 overall. The Cowgirls have won five of their last six games.
Dani Price led the second inning off with a single before pinch runner MyKeisha Young scored on a RBI by Kelsey Jolly for a 1-0 Cowgirl lead. In the third inning, Claire Terracina scored on a RBI single by Lauren Langner for a 2-0 lead. McNeese added its third run of the game in the fifth on a RBI single by Alanna DiVittorio that scored Tiffany Denham. Denham reached base on a double down the left field
Terracina became McNeese's career triples leader in the game with a triple to right center in the fourth inning. Terracina broke the record of 14 held by Jaime Manuel. Terracina now has 15 career triples and five on the year.
McNeese will begin Southland Conference play Friday at Stephen F. Austin. The Cowgirls and Ladyjacks will open the series with a 4 p.m. game on Friday then will conclude the series with a 1 p.m. game
