HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Roosevelt Johnson scored 24 points, recorded
three blocks and two steals in Southeastern Louisiana's 64-57 win
over McNeese State on Wednesday night.
Johnson was 10 of 12 from the field for the Lions and made 4 of
6 free-throw attempts.
Southeastern Louisiana (11-17, 4-11 Southland Conference)
entered halftime with a 32-23 lead and quickly pushed that
advantage to 39-24 in the second half after Johnson converted a
McNeese State (15-13, 10-5) wouldn't get any closer than five as
the Cowboys shot just 37.1 percent (13 of 35) during the period
after going 8 of 24 in the first half.
Despite losing the rebounding battle 38-32, Southeastern
Louisiana outscored McNeese State 34-27 in the paint, scored 15
second-chance points and flipped 14 Cowboys turnovers into 15
Patrick Richard led McNeese State with 18 points, but the senior
guard struggled from the field, hitting only 5 of 17 shots.
