NORMAN, OK (KPLC)-Medal finishes by Alex Bruce-Littlewood, La'Shantena Rounds and Thomas Canchola led McNeese State during Saturday's final day of the Southland Conference indoor track and field championship meet.
Bruce-Littlewood ran second in the men's mile run with a 4:10.87 clocking, Rounds placed second in the women's shot put with a throw of 47-0.75 and Canchola finished third in the men's shot put with a toss of 54-1.25.
As a team the Cowgirls finished fifth with 64 points while the Cowboys placed sixth in the men's division with 47 points. Stephen F. Austin won the women's title and UTSA took the men's crown.
Other athletes scoring points for the Cowboys on Saturday were Johnathan Koenck with a fifth place in the mile run (4:14.32) and a sixth in the 3000 meters (8:33.70), Jarrett LeBlanc with a fourth in the 3000 meters (8:28.90), Joshua Sawe with a seventh in the mile run (4:16.30) and Xavier Stevens with an eighth in the triple jump (46-9.5)
For the Cowgirls, Ashlee Smith finished fourth in the shot put (46-2), Amy Talbot was sixth in the mile run (5:05.59), Allison Crawford was eighth in the mile (5:09.76), Mariah Georgetown was fourth in the 60 hurdles (8.68), Desarae Couthren was seventh in the 60 hurdles (8.94), Ashleigh Wells was fifth in the 200 meters (25.0) and Fionnuala Ross was fourth in the 3,000 meter run (10:01.17).
The Cowgirl 4x400 relay team of Couthren, Paige Lynch, Wells and Racheal Easton ran fifth with a 3:56.05 clocking.
