Mistrial declared in 2nd degree murder trial of Billie Joe Weldon

Beauregard Parish (KPLC) - The 2nd degree murder trial of Billie Joe Weldon has been declared a mistrial. This comes only a week after a jury was seated.

The mistrial was declared after Weldon's defense attorney said he needed more time to review newly discovered evidence.

Weldon's new trial date has been set for June 18th. He will remain in jail on a $10 million bond. He is accused of killing Kimberly Ann Stephens 2009.
