Vinton man sentenced to 20 years for DWI offense

The following is a Press Release from the Louisiana District Attorney:

On February 22, 2012, Judge G. Michael Canaday sentenced Neil Paul Ellis, of Vinton, to a total of 20 years in the Louisiana Department of Corrections for two counts of DWI 4th Offense.

While on probation for a 2004 DWI conviction, Ellis committed another DWI in November 2011.  Ellis admitted to violating his probation and entered a guilty plea to the new offense. 

Judge Canaday sentenced Ellis to serve 10 years on each offense to run consecutively.  Judge Canaday also ordered Ellis pay a $5,000 fine. 

Assistant District Attorney Lester Robertson prosecuted the case.
