Children enjoy activities leading up to parade

Children's Day celebration

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Children across the lake area kick started their Mardi Gras today with the annual Children's Day at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

The celebration started at noon and children filled the hall with their parents and families.

They played the conventional games like ring toss and bean bag toss, but with a Mardi Gras twist.

The children enjoyed food and drinks while getting their faces painted with Mardi Gras designs.

A Cajun music band played as the children danced, but one attraction seemed to have stolen the show.

Live birds were available for children to see and take pictures with, and for Jayden jack and his sister Kayla, they were a favorite.

Children's day wrapped up at around three o'clock this afternoon.
