LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
The Contraband Bayou Bridge was down to one lane eastbound between Nelson Road and Lake Street due to an emergency repair made on the I-210 bridge.
According to Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development District Administrator Steve Jiles, a concrete slab disintegrated. It left a foot long gap in the approach to the bridge.
Jiles said that it has been fixed. A new concrete bolster block was poured and replaced the broken 18 inch block. "We are waiting for the concrete to harden and strengthen enough to open up both lanes to traffic", said Jiles.
Officials expect the lane to reopen by Saturday morning.
