Sulphur man arrested for theft from employer

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On February 14, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a local business regarding an employee stealing from the company.

When deputies arrived, they were advised after confronting employee Andrew G. Menard, Jr., 37, of Sulphur, concerning some equipment that had come up missing from the company, Menard confirmed to stealing from his employer on several occasions over the last 4 years.

When questioned by detectives, Menard confirmed to stealing several metal valves from the company since 2004 and bringing them to a local scrap yard in exchange for money.  The employer advised detectives the value of the metal valves could be between $1,500- $25,000 depending on the type of valves that were stolen.

Menard was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged theft over $1,500.

Judge Wilford Carter has set his bond at $1,500.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office's investigations are continuing with more charges possible.  CPSO Detective Shannon Chesson is the lead investigator on this case.
