The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

Lake Charles – On Feb. 10, at approximately 6 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded in reference to shots fired outside a local nightclub on U.S. 90 in Lake Charles.

When deputies arrived, they discovered an altercation in the parking lot allegedly between Shane D. Gallien, 20, 1606 16th St., Lake Charles, and two patrons.  An acquaintance of Gallien's, Gregory E. Fontenot, 20, 2418 Elm St., Lake Charles, pulled out a handgun during the altercation.  After firing several shots in the air in the parking lot where a crowd had gathered, Gallien and Fontenot fled the scene in a car.

Deputies received information including a detailed description of the car in which the two fled, including the license plate number. With this information deputies were able to quickly locate and apprehend Gallien and Fontenot.  After receiving permission from the homeowners, deputies searched the house and discovered  various narcotics, including marijuana, Percocet, Xanax, and methamphetamine.  Deputies also recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the home, which Gallien and Fontenot confirmed had been fired during the altercation in the nightclub parking lot.  After running the serial number on the handgun, deputies discovered the gun had been reported stolen.

Gallien and Fontenot were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.  Gallien is charged with theft over $500; possession of marijuana; and possession of CDS II (meth).   Fontenot was charged with aggravated assault; illegal use of a dangerous weapon; illegal carrying of a weapon; possession of a firearm on premises of alcohol beverage outlet; possession of CDS II (Percocet); possession of CDS IV (Xanax); and possession of marijuana.

Judge Michael Canaday set Gallien's bond at $4,000 and set Fontenot's bond at $26,000.

CPSO Detective James Leubner is the lead investigator on this case.
