LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Armand Ditch Project Phase 1 shut down approximately 80 yards on North Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff.
Work crews have been working since Feb. 7 on replacing culverts and installing a bridge in order for water to flow more effectively through the Armand Ditch.
"Since the 2006 flood happened here in this area, people's properties were damaged," said Bill Willis, vice president of Gravity Drainage District 8 Board.
Willis also said an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people will be affected by North Perkins Road closing until June 2012.
The Armand Ditch is expected to be widened and sloped.
Traffic is currently being rerouted.
