Westlake Checkpoint Results: 3 DWI, 2 Narcotics arrests

WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) -

Westlake Police report several impaired driving arrests resulting from Friday night's DWI checkpoint. The four hour operation was set up in the middle of Sampson Street from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

According to officials 1,060 vehicles went through the checkpoint. A total of seven field sobriety tests were administered resulting in three DWI arrests. One of the DWI arrests happened within the first 30 minutes of the checkpoint. Police also arrested two people for possession of marijuana. In addition 14 other traffic citations were issued.

Other agencies assisting with the checkpoint were the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police and Lake Charles Police.
