This Press Release is from the Calcasieu Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and the United States Coast Guard:

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is asking that recreational boating traffic restrict their movement on the Calcasieu River in areas that are at or above flood stage. In addition, The United States Coast Guard is asking commercial traffic to proceed at the slowest safe speed in these affected areas. Officials are making this request to minimize damage to any personal property in the affected waterways.

The affected area includes the Calcasieu River and its tributaries north and east of the Saltwater Barrier, including the East Fork, English Bayou and West Fork areas of the river. The Calcasieu River is expected to crest soon at Old Town Bay and should fall below flood stage by Wednesday.

For any emergency situations, please call 911.
