MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) - Goos Ferry Road off La. 3059 is experiencing flooding due to the rising Calcasieu River.
The river crested at 6.5 feet Thursday, Feb. 9, and many residents found it treacherous to travel the road.
"It's pretty high. It's actually made the road impassable," said Fred LeBleu, a property owner.
Low spots on Goos Ferry Road collect most of the river water, and in most spots the yellow stripes on the road becane invisible. Also, the current in some places on the road makes driving difficult.
"I was able to drive through up until the water got to about five feet," LeBleu said. "But when it got to six feet, it made it impassable."
But floodwater didn't stop residents from going to their homes, even if their only mode of transportation was a boat.
The river will remain above flood stage throughout the weekend.
