
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Dontae Cannon scored 22 points to lead McNeese State in a 66-56 win over Stephen F. Austin on Sunday, extending the Cowboys' winning streak to a season-high four games.
Patrick Richard added 18 points and Jeremie Mitchell 12 for the Cowboys (11-10, 7-2 Southland Conference), who are tied for first place in the conference's east division with Northwestern State.
Cannon, Mitchell and Richard all hit two 3-pointers apiece, accounting for all McNeese State's shots from long range. The Cowboys were 6 of 15 from beyond the arc (40 percent) compared to just a 3 of 14 performance (21.4 percent) for the Lumberjacks.
McNeese State opened the game on a 20-10 run and cruised from there. The Cowboys led by five at intermission and outscored the Lumberjacks 40-35 to seal it in the second half. Antonio Bostic finished with 13 points to lead Stephen F. Austin (12-10, 6-3).
