Rayne police seeking escaped inmate

The following is a press release from Rayne Police Department:

Rayne Chief of Police Carroll Stelly announced his department is looking for a work detail DOC Prisoner who stole a City of Rayne Street Department Truck Saturday February 4, 2012.

The inmate took the truck around 4:00 PM and headed in an unknown direction. The inmate is John J. Smith, W/M, 5'10", 165 pounds, 42 years of age.

Smith was wearing a Rayne City Jail shirt blue in color and blue jeans. He was last seen driving a White 2003 Dodge 4 door pickup truck with no license plate. The truck has City of Rayne Street Department logo on both rear doors.
