The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

Today at approximately 9:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a car near mile marker 16 traveling east on I-10 for a traffic violation.

When Sgt. Cole spoke with the driver, Antonio O. Eddie, 23, he began to act suspiciously.  After receiving permission from Eddie to search the car, Sgt. Cole allowed his K9 "Basco" to conduct a free air sniff of the air around the car.

After Basco alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the rear of the car, Sgt. Cole located approximately 50 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, with an estimated street value of over $100,000.

Eddie was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
