Interior renovations to begin at Burton Coliseum

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

With the low bid in place at $1.2-million, renovations to the inside of Burton Coliseum will begin over the next 45 days.

Assistant to the Parish Administrator Dane Bolin said the Coliseum is a gem to the community and is overdue for renovations.

"It's been needed for a while and we've been focusing on it because again, we have a lot of big projects going on out there," Bolin said.

Projects like rodeos, graduations and livestock shows.

Bolin said the interior is the second phase of Burton renovations. Renovations to the restrooms, concession stand areas, upgrading the rooms and finishing the floors are all part of the renovation plans.

"We did a lot of work on the outside of Burton Coliseum. This is more focused on the inside, the interior of the Coliseum," Bolin said. And he's very excited about those renovations being made.

"It's very important for the kids and families in Calcasieu Parish and across the state right now," he said. "So it's a bright future for Burton."
