Man arrested in connection with I-10 accident

Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Curtis Cheley, 35, of Tabernacle, DeRidder, LA, Wednesday, January 25th in connection with yesterday's accident that occurred on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 83.

Cheley was arrested at his home without incident on warrants issued by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office.

In addition to the traffic related charges that were filed by Louisiana State Police, Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated his office is charging Cheley with attempted carjacking, battery on a police officer, resisting arrest violently and interfering with the duties of a police officer.

KATC-TV 3 is reporting that State Police charged and booked him, but Acadia Parish hadn't filed their charges on him before he bonded out. According to the deputies it appeared to be a miscommunication between departments.
