Severe thunderstorm coverage

9 PM update:

The Tornado Watch has been allowed to expire; so there are no watches in effect for any of Southwest Louisiana at this time.

The rain will continue to move away with all areas done with rain by Midnight.  There may be some scattered showers through midday Thursday; but these will not be severe.

There were some reports of damage in Beauregard, Calcasieu, and Vernon Parishes from damaging winds.  No tornadoes have been confirmed at this time; however a funnel clouds was spotted near Fort Polk.

6 PM update:

All of SWLA can expect a lot of rainfall today.

There are very strong winds at this time. We have had confirmed reports of 40 mph. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible along this line of storms.

A viewer has called in a report of heavy hail in DeQuincy at 1:30 PM.

The main concern at this time appears to be strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail, numerous lightning strikes, blinding rain, and the slight possibility of a few brief spin-up tornadoes.
