Crowley man busted with marijuana in Jennings

The following is a news release from the Jennings Police Department:

Around 11 p.m., Jennings Police Department, DPU (Directed Patrol Unit) working an I-10 detail pulled over a Chevrolet Avalanche for a simple traffic violation. The vehicle was heading eastbound near the Jennings exit when the stop was made.

The driver, identified as Jerry Lee Dregin,52, of Martha Lane in Crowley, gave officers permission to search the vehicle and the department's drug K-9, Carlo, alerted during the search.  Officers discovered 25 pounds of suspected marijuana in the spare tire under the vehicles bed.

Dregin was booked in to the City Jail on charges of Improper Lane Usage and Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana. The suspect already has multiple drug- related priors on his rap sheet and is currently out on Parole.
