Cowboys Fall to Bobcats

SAN MARCOS, TX (KPLC) -  Texas State knocked McNeese State out of the unbeaten ranks in Southland Conference basketball action  with an 82-73 victory here Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats snapped a three game losing streak  and evened their record at 8-8 with the victory.  It was also the team's first SLC win in three tries.

The defending SLC champion Cowboys fell to 2-1 in league play and to 6-9 overall, having a two game winning streak halted.

"It all came down to our defense," Cowboy head coach Dave Simmons said. "When we make a run we've got to do a better job defensively.  Today we just didn't do that.

"Now, we go back home for two straight games and if we can defend our home court we will be 4-1 when we go back out on the road again."

McNeese will now be at home for its next two games, hosting Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday and Northwestern State in a doubleheader on Saturday.
